Dr. Yang received a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science in 2010 from the University of Washington, Seattle. Her dissertation research was focused on quantifying the radiative energy budget in the tropical upper troposphere and lower stratosphere in order to understand troposphere to stratosphere transports, using satellite cloud observations from Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations (CALIPSO), CloudSat and International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP).
Dr. Yang is working on High-Resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder (HIRS) inter-satellite calibrations and is deriving reliable upper-tropospheric water vapor climate data record from HIRS observations. Based on the water vapor retrievals, she is investigating the climate impact of water vapor in the upper troposphere.
Ms. Yang joined CICS-NC as a Research Associate in January 2011.
