Dr. Chan completed her Ph.D. in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University with a focus on the role of energy budgets in Asian monsoon region. She has a Master of Philosophy in Physics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining CICS she worked as a weather forecaster at the Hong Kong Observatory and as a research scientist for contractor companies at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and Langley Research Center. Her research interests include surface radiation budget retrieval, aerosol radiative forcing, climate, remote sensing of water vapor and sea surface temperature.
Dr. Chan joined CICS-NC in January 2011. Currently she is working on AVHRR aerosol optical thickness retrieval.
